About Me
First, you should know a little bit about me. I’m from Hastings, NE. I grew up in a farmhouse where we didn’t have TV or phone service. For fun, I used to explore the woods behind my house and climb trees. I loved riding my bike or playing outside in the mud puddles outside my old house. I moved when I was 10 years old and spent the rest of my teen years in a neighborhood close to my High School. I have two older siblings. I have one sister who is 22 and a brother who is 24. I am the baby of the family at 20 years old.
To understand how my life has been shaped into what it is, you’ll need some information on my parents. My dad is alumni at Chadron State. He got his Bachelor’s degree at Chadron State College and went on to get his Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance at USD where he met my mom. She has her Bachelor’s in Music Education and has taught music for 26 years. My parents have been married for 26 years and counting. I detasseled for four years, then when I turned 16 I got a job at Applebee's as a Carside for 3 and a half years. Because my parents are so musically inclined, it can be expected that I would be too. I have been in band for 9 and a half years. I was in choir for 6 years during Jr and Sr high school. I also was in select choirs my freshman, sophomore, and senior years of high school. During my four years of high school, I participated in the Musical. While I will always have a passion for music, teaching art is my true dream. My original plan was to become an interior designer, but I loved the thought of helping children embrace their artistic side more than the thought of sitting at a desk. I took six years of art classes throughout my junior and senior years of high school. I also was a Teacher’s Aide for my art teacher during my senior year. She had me teach a class how to throw pottery, along with some other art projects. I want to teach because she was such an amazing role model and I would give anything to be even half the teacher that she was. She has taught me so much and I hope to do the same for others when I become a teacher. In the most current chapter of my life, I am an Art Pk-12 major. I’m excited to expand my education and start my dream job as an Art teacher. The London and Dublin trip will expand my understanding of different cultures and ways of life. Hopefully, I will see some artwork when I go as well. |
